Canon EOS 600D / Rebel T3i

Canon EOS 600D / Rebel T3i

The Canon EOS Rebel T3i is Canon’s latest upper-entry level DSLR camera. Released in February of 2011, it sports a 18 MPx APS-C CMOS Sensor along with Canon’s DIGIC 4 Image Processor.

ISO settings range from 100 – 6400 which is expandable up to 12,800.

Movie Mode is capable of shooting 1080p video at 30, 25 and 24 FPS. 720p and 480p are also possible with Video Zoom and Snapshot features now implemented into movie mode.

The Rebel T3i inherits the fully articulated LCD screen from the 60D as well as wireless flash controls.

Auto Modes now employ the EOS Scene Detection System, which helps to identify subjects better.

Finally, the camera is capable of shooting at 3.7 FPS for up to 34 JPEGs or 6 RAW.

Images Quality

The 18 MPx APS-C CMOS Sensor combined with the DIGIC 4 Image Processor is the same combination employed in the 60D, Canon’s current mid-range camera. It’s a tried and true formula that’s produced great results.

ISO settings range from 100 – 6400 which is expandable up to 12,800. User-adjustable noise reduction allows for balancing between noise and detail for your images.

Like the 60D, the camera has a 63 zone metering and a 9-point AF system.

Construction

Canon EOS Rebel T3i BackThe Rebel T3i now features a 3 inch fully articulated LCD screen. The 1,040k-dot screen is capable of Live View with multiple aspect ratios and can be rotated fully for self portraits.

The camera now has rubber grips around the body for easier handling. Canon has also enhanced the flash functionality with support for wireless control and the latest EX-series Speedlite flashes.

SD, SDHC and SDXC memory cards as compatible with the Rebel T3i as well as Eye-Fi Cards.

Usability

1080p video recording at 30, 25 and 24 FPS is possible. 720p and 480p are available as well at multiple frame rates.

The camera has two additional functions, Movie Digital Zoom, offering magnification by about 3 – 10x and Video Snapshot which captures short video clips and combines them into one clip.

The camera is capable of 3.7 FPS continuous shooting for up to 34 JPEGs or 6 RAW.

Advanced image features include Basic+ which gives the user more flexibility to take the photos they want quickly and accurately. The camera also has Creative Filters which offer some neat effects, 5 in total.

Lastly, the Rebel T3i has a Feature Guide, similiar to Canon’s entry level camera. This helps users who may be new to photography by showing simple descriptions for the respective function they’re using.
