Images Quality |
The EOS 5D Mark II uses a 21.1 MPx Full Frame CMOS Sensor along with DIGIC 4 Image Processor. At the time of its introduction, it delivered the best image quality of any EOS model at the time and it still holds up well today. Images are finely detailed while also delivering very low noise at high ISO sensitivities. The viewfinder covers 98% with .71x magnification. The camera is able to record in 1080p at 30 FPS as well as with standard definition. In March of 2010, a firmware update has added 24 FPS recording and manual audio recording functionality. |
Construction |
The camera sports a 3 inch 920k dot resolution LCD screen. The screen is used for Live View, and movie recording as well as navigating the menus. Canon’s Integrated Cleaning System is specifically designed for its full frame sensor. The low-pass filter has a new fluorine coating to help repel dust and Canon’s internal software can also remove dust during post processing.
Usability |
The camera has 9 user selectable AF points along with 6 additional vertical and horizontal AF assist points. Continuous shooting is at 3.9 FPS. The camera has a rugged shutter designed for 150k exposures. It also features an improved weather-resistant body. The 5D Mark II has a monaural microphone for audio during video recording however there is a jack for a stereo input. It also has an HDMI video output for live previewing or playing clips to an external source.
